There has been a lot of activity to date, and a lot of people to thank -
Frank Vetere for his valuable feedback while coaxing the Mid-Markham MuSE website into form. Gracie!
Paul MacLean, chair of PARA - Palmerston Area Residents' Association,
for bicycling, for his super generosity in helping make my
neighbourhood more liveable, and for help in outlining the important,
often under recognized role that resident associations play so that
things work for everyone.
Nick D’Aleandro of Nicksvizions for
being such a networking maniac, the bug in the ear of the Columbus
Centre, and his unwavering attention while this baby went from in the
clouds, to off the ground, to hitting the road. Here’s hoping he never
gets a job in daycare.
Tim Grant, co-founder of greenteacher.com, chair of Harbord Village Residents' Association for caring about future generations of kids, and for his willingness to share invites for upcoming courses with the membership.
Mama
D’Aleandro, for her pastries and really kneading to cater our Columbus
Centre events with great consistency without any dough for 6 years. May
her cookie trays never buckle.
Kimberly Curry, executive director, Seeds of Hope Foundation
and so many other volunteers for caring so much about society, our
well-being, green roof tops, and for donating office and production
space for the QUEEN EAST Agency at Yonge and Wellesley. And David Walsh
and Sister Susan founded 6 St Joseph House as a centre that expresses
their love for creativity, community and compassion. Thank you for
being so hospitable when it comes to our events over the years.
Catalina
Bayarres and Paul Acuna for caring so much for the light within
communities, and for bringing so many of us closer together.
Mike Layton,
and the city councillor’s staff, for helping look at how we all can
benefit arts groups. Thank you, Mike, for studying the science of
ecology at university, and serving on the board of a creativity hub at YOUNGPlace.
Norm Whyte, Cathy Carnevali and the rest of the board at Bay Cloverhill Community Association
for leading the way by planting in ‘bioswales’ so city trees thrive and
people breathe easier on Bay Street. May the new parks in that area
renew us! Thank you for your amazing AGM’s and sharing our updates with
your members.
Jim Morrison, for his patient accounting of the benefits of collaborative villages.
Art
Bloom and Jiri Dvorak for sharing their great tools and insights during
Social Creator sessions. What we learned continues to make a
difference in many of our lives.
Robin Preboy of Women Arrive for
uncovering souls, goodness and light, helping to facilitate our
courses, and being a midwife to burgeoning concepts of what can work in
communities.
Reverend Lindsay King of the Family Life Foundation
for promoting a broader understanding of money as one means of
exchange, and ‘community’ as the assurance that we seek. You continue
to inspire wholeness and well-ness.
Hugh Reilly and the crew at ThatChannel.com for helping us to get the word out. May your knitted hat stay unfrayed forever.
Adam
Kuzmin for helping to get a park at Yonge and Wellesley, and
videotaping our early collaborative village events. What an eye!
Ryan Diment for making tool libraries
for Toronto that we can all share in and save money, and for leading
the way for organizing in the Yonge-Wellesley neighbourhood.
Hilton Mijovick for inspiring us and weaving words and relationships together in magical ways.
Josh Townsend for clearing people's fears forever, knowing tons about software tools, and typing real fast on computer when others are busy.
Miss SUZETTE
for helping inspire us to laugh and play at our events and keeping the
dream of deadlines forever alive in our heads. May the farce be with
you, dear!
Ross Regan for listening, and making the going easy when it could have been tough.
David
Shelly for volunteering his huge creative talent to benefit
communities, coming up with Social Creator as a name, and with a logo.
Ava Goodman for painting that’s about caring for our ecology, volunteering at Pottery Road, and helping with collaborative villages.
Calvin Clarke and Teresa Tolak for their offerings of music, poetry and lights at our intro nights.
Gadi
Foltys and Group Energy Facilitation, for writing the sound track to a
better world, and nurturing the collision of people’s inspiration, so
well, and with such finesse. His ongoing collaborations are creating a
shift in North Toronto so we’ll all see a society of delight.
Columbus
Centre for sharing their boardroom, library and Divinci's with us for 6
years. That was really Verdi good of them. We couldn’t have asked for
Mozart, or Wagner. But, believe us, we will be Offenbach. We’ve always had a Gounod experience and left with great Felini of gratitude for their graciousness.
Freshslice Pizza
for their unswerving dedication to slicing yummy pizza, and for their
bountiful catering of our downtown events. These people really know how
to say cheese.
Ethelrida Zabala-Laxa for inspiration and her heart to be reckoned with, keeping us juiced up at the intro nights. Click on her name and she will sing for you.
